Thanksgiving is an American holiday.

Each year, it is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November. This year it is on November 26th.

Americans remember the Pilgrims, the first English people to live in America.

The Pilgrims left England because of religious persecution. They crossed the Atlantic ocean aboard the Mayflower to start a colony in New England in 1620.

The Pilgrims' first year was very difficult in the New World. They had little to eat because their crops didn't grow. Some Indians helped them. They showed them new plants. The Pilgrims wanted to thank the Indians, so they invited them to a special dinner.

the first Thanksgiving

Today, Americans have a similar dinner to remember the first Thanksgiving.

What is the typical Thanksgiving dinner composed of ? What kind of meat, vegetables and dessert do they have?

Congrats Ronan (8A) ! The typical Thanksgiving dinner is composed of turkey served with corn and sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie

Splendid ideas, I have been wondering how to start writing my speech which is due next month, thanks for that complete resource. I will be looking forward for more interesting things.

the traditional thanksgiving dinner is turkey with stuffing and cramberry sauce, corn and sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie for the dessert.

Congrats Ronan, except for one small mistake : cranberry sauce.
