Never mind the fact that he owes his most recent surge in popularity to an Australian<br /> from Hollywood - Braveheart is a true Scottish hero, the knight who fought for Scotland’s independence and led his ragtag army to unlikely victories over English troops. Of course, it was all<br /> doomed to fail, and Wallace was eventually given a sham trial (during which he was forbidden to even speak) and brutally tortured and executed on the streets of London.
