London has been voted as the city to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
The 2012 Summer Olympic Games, officially known as the Games of the XXX Olympiad, are due to take place from 27 July to 12 August 2012.

The five candidate cities for the 2012 Olympic Games were Paris, France; New York, USA; Moscow, Russia; London, Great Britain and Madrid, Spain.
The final vote between London and Paris, saw London achieve 54 votes with Paris 50.
Great Britain will host the 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition at the new Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy
2012 marks the first time the Olympics has been held in Britain since 1948.
IOC President Jacques ROGGE offered his congratulations to the winners, commenting, 'We knew the two bids were very, very close. Well done, London. It will be a superb Games and will strengthen the Olympics.'
